MRHS ARCHIVE PRODUCTIONS

MRHS is making available certain items from the archives in the form of photo albums on CD that is like looking at a book on a computer. The CD works in PCs & Macs and is self-starting (requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer). The photos can be printed out.

THE PERRY BECKER COLLECTION: The 166 color photos are from the Missabe Railroad Archive Collection featuring photos from the "Perry Becker Slide Collection." Perry took the photos in the 1950-60 time period. Steam locomotives are predominant, but there are also a few early diesels. The photo locations are in Proctor, Duluth, Two Harbors and Biwabik. The presentation concludes with railfan specials powered by Yellowstones #222, 224 & 225.

The photos can be viewed either in the self-starting CD photo album book or individually. $14.95

LAKE SUPERIOR IRON: A trip back to the iron ore & copper mines of the Lake Superior region through postcards, photos, video & film, spanning the period from the late 1800s to the 1970s. While the mines of the Mesabi, Vermilion and Cuyuna Ranges in Minnesota are a major focus of the video, the Gogebic and Menominee Ranges in Wisconsin/Michigan, the Marquette Range and Copper Country in Michigan and the Michipicoten and Atikokan Ranges in Ontario are also visited. Also shown are beneficiation plants, draglines, loading shovels, mining railroads and underground mining scenes (including a video trip down into one).

The video contains 566 images, video and 8 MM film, comprehensive narration on the mines, table of contents and is 52 minutes long. The video is on DVD and the original photos (with statistics on each mine) are on a self-starting CD-ROM (works in PCs & Macs) that is like looking through a book. $24.95 (postpaid)
