Before being on the north end of CN's Superior Sub., the Nemadji River crossing east of Saunders was on the Missabe's Interstate Branch. During late Missabe ownership, most of the trains over the Interstate Branch were CN haulage trains, WC trains, or UP trains. But, the Missabe did run across the Interstate Branch with the "Steelton Switch" on Sundays and Wednesdays to work Koppers at Ambridge and the UP interchange. Here the 213/408/203 consist takes the twice a week move over the Nemadji River with 2 cars of UP interchange and 2 cars from Koppers late in the afternoon of Dec. 8, 2002. Photo by Kevin Madsen.
