2011 Annual Meeting - Duluth - Saturday August 27

2011 MRHS ANNUAL MEETING

The 2011 MRHS gathering is a departure from standard conventions of prior years as all events will take place on Saturday and the date is near the end of August. This was done mainly due to the fact that the Convention Chair position has gone unfilled and your board of directors have not had any volunteers step forward. The date change was done to accommodate use of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum and steam locomotive 2719, with earlier dates in the month having other activities booked for the museum.

Highlighting our meet will be a trip from Duluth to Two Harbors behind Soo Line 2719, a locomotive similar to the DM&IR Pacifics that ran over this line. We will reserve DM&IR coach 33 and W-24 for our group and arrange for a photo stop as schedule allows.

Given our abbreviated itinerary there will be no model or photo contests as well as no swap meet. We will have our annual membership meeting as well as the archives auction. After the banquet we will have a night photo session with 2719, DM&IR 193 and 316 plus our member slide show. Cab rides in 316 will also be an option prior to the banquet.

It is important that as many members as possible attend the annual meeting so we can discuss the future of the society - your input counts!
