2012 Important Dates

A few dates to make note of in 2012.

The first is our annual clean team at the LSRM on Saturday, May 19. More info will be coming out on this but as is tradition we will meet at the depot at 10A on that day and clean equipment then have lunch. Also, Gene Clark will be looking for a handful of volunteers to help that afternoon in the archives at Two Harbors (you can RSVP to him directly as we get closer)

The second date is our annual convention to be held the weekend of August 3-4-5 on the Range (exact site TBD).

In addition, our next MRHS Board Meeting will be held on April 14.

2011 Convention Recap

There were 42 "full" attendees this year for our mini-convention on Saturday, August 27.

The main element was a train ride on the NSSR from Duluth to Two Harbors. The board agreed that it would be nice to have one side of Soo 2719 lettered for a DM&IR Class P 4-6-2. Number 403 was selected (2719 is similar to DM&N Pacifics 400-402). Doug Buell used decal artwork provided by Milt Spanton and had the lettering done locally and applied the night before by Doug, Kent Rengo, Chris Rengo and myself. From a distance it really looked like a Class P (Missabe painted the tires and trim just like 2719).
