2016 Convention

Junction Inn Suites & Conference Center Babbitt, Minnesota

Sept. 30th - Oct. 2nd

Convention Details

The 2016 Convention Committee invites you to join your fellow MRHS members for a trip to the North Woods as we will be exploring the Tower / Soudan area of Northern Minnesota. It has been years since we have travelled to the northern most part of the DM&IR. This year’s convention will be held September 30th - October 2nd.

This convention will hold our rst ever entire hotel takeover. The Junction Inn & Suites ConferenceCenter is less than two years old and is the perfect place for this year’s convention. Only MRHS members and their guests will be staying at the hotel. This provides us an opportunity to set our things up and leave them up for the entire convention! With a total of just twenty rooms and at $99.99 per night this convention will book up fast. So let’s ll the hotel!!! Should we need additional rooms, Junction Inn has worked a deal with nearby hotels to honor the same room rate should we need it.

Special Request: We are asking that attendees again bring about a dozen photos and or slides that we can share with everyone. Friday night we will scan your images, and then share them on Saturday with everyone. Don’t worry, you will get your orignals back on Friday night as the process takes only a few seconds for each image. Everyone will take home a CD of the images that are shared by the members. This was a huge hit last year so we thought we’d do it again.

Modeling and Photo Contests: PLEASE bring models and/or photos for our contests. You can enter steam or diesel engines, rolling stock, cabooses, maintenance of way, passenger cars, buildings or anything Missabe related. This is a great way to show off your modeling skills and share with others. Photos can be either in B&W or color on anything DM&IR. Let’s get a good turnout this year for our contests.

Archives Auction: We are always looking for donated items to auction off at our convention to raise dollars for our archive efforts. If you have any items that you would like to donate, please contact Brian at hoageeze@comcast.net. All donations are tax deductible.
